Q. What is MortonÕs List?

A. MortonÕs List is many things to many people. According to page one of the MortonÕs List book, it is a vessel for limitless adventure and the End to Boredom. Those who have played know it as a game of real-life Quests. At its simplest, it is an hour of totally random entertainment, always delivering on its promise to end boredom. Beyond that, the game can be a trigger for life-changing experiences, creating memories and stories that last a lifetime. Whatever you think MortonÕs List is, it probably is. The only way to truly know is to play.

Q. I still donÕt understand. Can I get a sample and see some of these Quests?

A. Yes, you can. The sample is modelled after one of the 13 chapters of the extensively researched and spectacularly illustrated 402 page book, and is now available as a 45-page .pdf. This includes its own easy-to-follow rules, and a special sample Table, including 28 Quests and some entirely unique flavor. All we ask is that if you like it, buy the complete game. It is called Morton's Lite: 13%, and is downloadable here .

Q. At first I thought this was a video game, but it looks like there are some kind of crazy-looking dice involved. Is this like Dungeons and Dragons or some shit?

A. In Dungeons and Dragons you may find yourself breaking into tunnels at night, worshipping the Devil, or totally nerding out and dressing in costumes. While it is true that some Quests in MortonÕs List include the potential for these exact activities, that is where all parallels end. MortonÕs List includes 360 unique, real-life Quests that can be taken as far the playerÕs are morally comfortable, while the other is an imaginary game of pretend that some people have taken way too far. The 30-sided die, or Morton Boulder, is used to roll Quests, but thatÕs where the dice rolling (usually) ends.

Q. The idea sound interesting, but I don't know if it's for me. Who is Morton' s List meant for?

A. Morton's List is meant for anyone with resourcefulness, a sense of adventure, and who is not afraid of finding and overcoming his or her personal limits. Morton's List is best played by those who are ready for whatever happens, no matter what. We know that this is not everyone, but a very select type of individual who is ready to commit 100 percent to doing something, before they even know what it is. In short, someone who is apart from and better than most.

Q. Why isn't Morton's List in store's nationwide? I've looked near and far, high and low, hither and yon, but haven't been able to find it. What's up with that?

A. Morton's List was carried by a certain very large nationwide retailer, during which time it sold extremely well. However, certain aspects of the game were considered controversial, and it was no longer distributed by them. So we decided that Morton's List is best sold directly to the people, and not a faceless distributor who doesn't understand our game. Morton's List is available in the physical version of the store that handles our online sales: The Sportsrock Shop, 29572 7 Mile Rd., Livonia, MI 48152, (Inside Livonia Mall, NW corner of 7 Mile and Middlebelt).

Q. I'm a retailer, and want to buy wholesale copies for sale in my store. I see that you aren't with any of the usual distributors. Who do I talk to?

A. You may email MortonsWeb@gmail.com, with "Wholesale Order" in the subject line, and we will gladly work directly with you.

Q. I have MortonÕs List pictures and stories that I would like to share. Where can I send them?

A. The MortonÕs List forum is the best place to post photos of the Inner CircleÕs Quests, Tattoos, or other MortonÕs List related artwork. The same is true for tales of your Quests.

Q. IÕm a really hot chick, and have naked photos of myself. Where can I email them?

A. You may send them to MortonsWeb@gmail.com, with "hot chick photos" in the subject line.

Q. I read The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart, and this game has strikingly similar themes of chance, randomness, and allowing dice to determine your actions. Was that novel an influence?

A. Not in the slightest. None of the creators of MortonÕs List were even aware of that book (written in the early 1970Õs) until the groundwork for the game was already fully in place. MortonÕs List and The Dice Man are both examples of how choosing chaos can lead to something more. Read an excerpt to learn more.

Q. What does this game have to do with the Insane Clown Posse and / or Psychopathic Records?

A. Dark Carnival Games L.L.C. and the creators of MortonÕs List have close personal and familial ties to Psychopathic Records and the Wicked Clowns. MortonÕs List might never have been released without the help and support of Psychopathic, who will always be our family. The game was first shared with those who were Down with the Clown, but is now reaching a much larger Inner Circle, united not just by a particular type of music, but by the shared experiences of MortonÕs List.

Q. I am Amish or a fugitive or something and donÕt want to pay via Credit Card. Is there an address where I can send my International Money Order?

A. We understand that many people who want to play MortonÕs List live far, far off the grid. Congratulations for even using the Internet - thatÕs a good start. Email us at MortonsWeb@gmail.com with "Mail Order" in the subject line, and we will provide mail-order details.

Q. From what IÕve read so far, this game sounds like it could be controversial. Are there things in the game that could get someone into real trouble?

A. Some Quests have the potential to be dangerous or illegal, just like anything else you might do in reality. MortonÕs List is a game of real life, so there can be real-life consequences. MortonÕs List never says: "break laws, behave recklessly, and act stupid." The Quests can be interpreted to be as risky as the players like. For those who like it on the edge, MortonÕs List doesnÕt put up any safety rails. The game just recommends that everyone fasten his or her own chinstrap.

Q. I got this game, and wanted to do some wicked shit. Then when me and my crew played, we rolled something calm and chillinÕ style. WhatÕs up with that? I wanted to get crazy.

A. MortonÕs List is the End to Boredom and a gateway to the unexpected. If you already had something in mind, why didnÕt you do that instead? MortonÕs List contains the calm as well as the chaotic, the mental and the physical, the Yin and the Yang. To play MortonÕs List is to be ready for anything, free of all preconceptions.

Q. We were playing MortonÕs List last night and I got fuckin arrested. The pigs ran my ID and my unpaid parking tickets came up. Can someone there please bail me out?

A. Unfortunately Dark Carnival Games, L.L.C. cannot be responsible for everyoneÕs parking tickets / unpaid child support / DUIÕs / possession of paraphernalia, etc. Within the game, we again emphasize that you not break the law (while acknowledging that laws vary wildly from place to place), and especially NOT TO GET CAUGHT. MortonsList.com wishes you the best of luck, and will gladly celebrate with you when you get out.

Q. This game really does include everything. Me and my Inner Circle have tried to think of things that arenÕt in the game, but it really seems to cover every possible Quest. How is that possible?

A. MortonÕs List was developed over 7 years, involving research with ninjas of every conceivable background. The creators knew that their own limited reality could not possibly include every activity which exists, so they sought out actual Wiccans, practitioners of the martial, tantric, and visual arts, as well as rock and roll ninjas in ass tight pants who were too busy getting laid and doing drugs to have ever even played a game in their entire lives. This information was combined with the ancient wisdom of the Crystal Skulls and the scrolls of Atlantis, allowing Dark Carnival Games to create something unlike anything that has come before. Every aspect of life is contained within the 360 Quests of MortonÕs List.

Q. I remember the old website from 2001, which was all flash-looking and high-tech. Why donÕt you guys use that one any more?

A. The old site can be seen at http://www.mortonslist.com/flash.php. While it is easy to see that it was very slick, it did not include the ML Forum, which is a better way for everyone in the Inner Circle to be in contact with one another. MortonsList.com is a website for everyone, not just the ninjas who run Dark Carnival Games.

Q. The first news posting from the old website is dated September 11, 2000. Is that really when Dark Carnival Games was founded? ThatÕs a very ominous coincidence.

A. ItÕs true. Exactly one year before the tragic events of September 11, Dark Carnival Games was officially founded to publish MortonÕs List. The game was finally released on Friday, July 13th, 2001. As you might imagine, our "One Year in Business" party was seriously dampened.
